Visit to the South West

I have come back from a few days down in Plymouth - I wasn't the only one out and about..................
AND
I spent a glorious day in St Ives visiting the Tate gallery and Barbara Hepworth's studio and garden (a haven of tranquillity in the middle of bustling tourist land!) I have been before and it never fails to inspire 'the artist' in me - here are a few photos taken in the studio (which you can't enter only see from the doorway)......................
and in the garden.............

and St Ives must have the best station in England - this is the view when you get out of the train (it was of course the perfect June day and may not be quite so lovely in December!)

The best of all this is that I am planning to move to the Plymouth area in the next few months and my house goes up for sale in about a week's time - I am so excited about living near the sea again and it's been a dream to live in this part of the world since I was a teenager (quite a long time ago!!! but as they say it's never too late to fulfill dreams! ) One of my daughters and 2 grandchildren live down here so I will be much nearer to them too!!!
More news about this adventure will follow meantime I just need to sell my house!

woohoo! U've given me a little taster for my holiday later in the summer in St Ives (love it). Did u go and see the little man (can't remember the name) in a tiny little gallery opposite the town hall? Lucky you - moving to the sea.

Congratulations! You're right on the water! the beach is smooth, ad the water is the most beautiful shade of blue. and a sculpture garden throughout the park! This is wonderful!

Love seeing the studio...and the garden.
Exciting decision to live near the sea. I made a similar decision and have never been happier. I think we know where we need to be and sometimes we are lucky enough to actually live in our dream place. Good luck in selling your home!

what a lovely lovely part of the world - what a big transition you are about to make - so happy for you - hope your house sells fast - selling houses is just a pain! i like the buying on the other end better! :) good luck!

I visited Barbara Hepworth's studio/house/garden some years ago - loved it too! Found there a wonderful mixture of peace and quiet and a sense of absolutely driven work.
Yours paper stones look interesting, craggy and textured and deceptively weighty. I'm thinking of unloading burdens too, letting superfluous stuff drop, which is probably what you will do when you get ready to pack up your things for your new life near Plymouth. All the best!
