Sub(missive) continued........... book art and guerrilla stitch up parcel

this was what confronted me today ! the deadline for the bookwork sub(missive) project is 2 March and so much to do.......

Now I feel I've moved on and finished one envelope today - I haven't used my sewing machine for a while and it wouldn't work so I resorted to hand sewing which gives a different 'hemmed in' look to it! I have a 25 year old faithful Swiss Bernina so hope I can find someone to fix it !

and made a cover (Leslie you might recognise this?)
A friend lent me a typewriter and I've started another envelope which will contain a list of 'in' words more to follow in a week!

Now for something different - the lovely Grrl+dog sent me a parcel
all the way from Australia cos I got closest to the answer to her question about a guerrilla's first objective - read about it here... this is what she sent me (all yummy stuff -and no bananas!!)Rubber stamps 0-9
Distress ink pad - spiced marmalade (delicious)
orange tissuey paper
2 hand knitted squares with pom poms (perfect for a pommie!)
Kangaroo from the set of 'Australia'
Bunch of labels with colourful ties and great quotes
1950,s magazine sheets, old labels, admit 1 tickets and letter
A knitting book

Kangaroo fell out of the box exhausted after the long trip!!

Don't you just love these quotes?

Wow - I tell you I was gob smacked by her generosity! Thank you Grrl

there's much to be said for brownpaper packages tied up with string...and much more when the brown paper has been properly embellished!

My Mom had a Bernia; I remember it as a great machine. I have her old Singer from 1950 or so. I love that machine. The cardboard just kept the package from bending. Gald you found a way to use it!

Thank you all above for such supportive comments when I am feeling so very wobbley about this project - I've been wanting to make a bookwork for some time now and thought this would push me to actually making one! It's the first one I've made and that little gremlin on my shoulder is giving me a hard time - so thank you followers - believe me your words help so much and give me more confidence in the direction the piece is taking...........

Grrl - what well deserved feedback you've had above - the bookwork is a Facebook collaborative project - have a look at my previous post Sub(missive) stage 1 which explains a bit more - hopefully will be posting the final piece in a weeks time - there will be an exhibition at Leeds International Artists Book Fair on 6 March

Forgot to say that the Beloved Bernina has gone to 'the repair home' with a lovely lady who is taking good care of her and finding out if she can be mended - more on this next week!

Hi there. Love the - everything. The book you're working on (do tell more) and the package. What fun! The labels are great. I can't seem to enlarge the photos by clicking, but maybe it's still loading. I don't mind sending a library book pocket and part of the story to you. E-mail me at the address on my blog in the post and I'll send it on. How fun you are! - Jeanne in Oregon
