Guerrilla knit - GONE!

Yes it's gone!
-disappeared,
nothing there !!
THE PARK BENCH IS BARE!!
- no comments, no pencils, no plastic bag, no knitted back rest - not a trace, not a thread, not a tiny bit of plastic - it is as if it never existed - does this smack of the local council's Parks department? Yep think so - so what now - well I'm going to join a knitting group and enroll others in the guerilla movement SO AS I CAN MAKE A MUCH BIGGER STATEMENT! And as to the Parks department - BANANAS!!!!
I wonder where my knittin is now? I feel a bit sad that my first foray into guerilla art came to such a NOTHING end!!

Oh so sorry to hear this! It hurts, doesn't it, when our contributions to the universe are taken by others who (probably) don't appreciate them for what they are. Hmm. The ability to see - really see - is different for us all. But you at least did it! You took part. Good for you on that part. - Jeanne

Oh this makes me so sad for you and so angry; it's like when the council came round and sprayed all the glorious aubretia on OUR wall, because it had flopped onto a bit of the pavement. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and some people just don't 'get it', do they? I look forward to seeing what and where the next guerilla knitting appears.

I've had a silly idea - why not print out copies of the photo you took of the knitting on the bench, and PIN A LINE OF THEM on the back of the park bench ?? (That's the naughty wild child in me, age 71, suggesting that!)

some people are such stick in the muds or bureaucrats. I say yes to BANANAS. I have just written a blog (post in a couple of days) entry about the importance of getting your own posse (it came up in an art conference last week). Hope you can get yours together soon.

At least you got a nice photo, did you post it on the various knit graffiti flickr groups? Got to spread the knitty lurve.

It would drive me bananas not to know what happened to it. I wouldn't be very good at this type of thing because you have no control over what happens.

It takes all kinds to make a world and not everyone is good at really seeing. I'm laying the blame on the zealous park cleaners.

That's a shame, it was a lovely idea and looked great. Such a gentle thing to do, such careful interfering, it's hard to see how anybody could object. Hope you'll try again.

Thinkin about it it's hardly surprising there is no art in this park they just love tidying up !! I love all your comments and yes I did do it and that's important! Love Ann's comment about pinning a line of photographs up along the bench - would have to laminate them cos it's pouring with rain here today!!

I am so sorry for you.
I guess the thing is to be completely immodest about it and for that you need the posse, but if there was a major import of knitting then it would really have to be "looked at"
We have a lady who walks the street with a plastic bag "Tidying" I could see her removing your work but she would certainly be bewildered if it were a big piece.

my inner anarchist muses on the notion of CARVING the knitting image into the park bench....one stitch at a time....

I hope this doesn't out you off from doing this again - in the same place perhaps.

ohhhh - I am sorry to hear about that - and you had been so daring - my first knit up was taken down by the parks dept within a day - I just put a second one up on private property - but the public buzz by there all the time, so each day I go to check on it's existence. Keep up your own personal anarchy - and my love to Yorkshire - haven't been in years, but it was lovely!

Ahhh. The same thing happened to me. But I have a little bit of a happy story that goes along with it. Will be posting about it on my blog soon! Guess this is par for the course for Guerilla Artists!
